Paragliding in the Canary Islands: Fly in Europe’s Paradise

Discovering the Canary Islands from the air is an experience that goes far beyond tourism or adventure. It’s a way to understand the landscape, the wind, and the essence of each island. In this video, I’ve compiled flights across four islands of the archipelago: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. A visual summary of what it means to paraglide in one of the world’s best destinations for free flight.

Paragliding in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria offers a wide variety of flying zones. From coastal takeoffs like Los Giles or Las Coloradas, to mountainous areas like La Cumbre. Conditions allow for year-round flying, making the island an ideal base for both recreational flights and technical training.

As a local guide, I’ve spent over two decades flying here and helping people of all levels discover the island from above.

Paragliding in Tenerife

Flying in Tenerife means altitude and contrast. From launch sites like Izaña or Taucho, you can reach long thermal flights with views of Mount Teide and the Atlantic. This island demands good decision-making skills and offers highly technical and rewarding flights.

Paragliding in Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura provides ideal conditions for pilots in training or those seeking smooth, extended flights. Its desert landscapes and gentle, wind-swept slopes allow for comfortable and safe progression. It’s perfect for practicing control, ground handling, and long flights.

Paragliding in Lanzarote

Flying in Lanzarote means flying over a one-of-a-kind volcanic landscape. Its colors, textures, and terrain are unlike anywhere else. It’s a demanding environment, but a deeply formative one. Sites like Famara or Mala offer great conditions for many weeks throughout the year.

A Visual Summary of What It Means to Fly in the Canary Islands

This video is more than a compilation of flights — it’s a glimpse into the daily life of those of us who dedicate ourselves to paragliding in the islands. The variety of landscapes, weather conditions, and flying styles make the Canaries a natural lab for learning, enjoying, and evolving in the air.

As a professional guide, I fly with both experienced pilots and people trying tandem paragliding for the first time. If you’re interested in becoming a pilot or booking your first paragliding flight, feel free to contact me directly.
